Varsity Looks Flat In Loss To Washington

The Varsity Pirates lost to the Patroits from Washington HS yesterday 8-5 at the Vashon field. The game was filled with physical and mental errors from both teams. Chris Allman started on the mound for the home team and pitched four innings. He struck out eight batters, allowed 6 hits, and walked two. Lester Gannaw pitched the final three innings allowing two hits, two strikeouts, and walking three batters. Offensive highlights were provided by Max Bean, who went 2 for 5 at the plate, including a solo homerun (the teams first this year) and Eric Anderson who went 3 for 4 along with a walk. Nathan Ott added two hits and Allman had a single and a walk. Adam Powelson, Tom Schumaker, and Anderson all contributed stolen bases. On the defensive side of things, Micah Deibell threw out a runner at the plate from right field and made a nice diving catch in center, and the team turned in a nifty double play. The Pirate team looks to rebound from this lackluster performance when league play resumes tomorrow (3/28) at home against the Cowboys from Chimacum. See you there.
