IN MEMORIAL - Jim Martin
Baseball on Vashon Island wouldn't be what it is today without the extraordinary work of Jim Martin. From developing the high school fields to a first-class facility wit
h quality dugouts and storage sheds, to always being there at practices to assist Coach Hall, and grooming the fields constantly to perfection. Jim has earned a place in the hearts of players, parents, coaches, and the entire Vashon Island community. He was truly 'Mr. Baseball'.  You will be sorely missed, old man.

Steve Hall, Head Coach
Steve began as head coach in 2004. He brings many years of coaching experience from Kitsap County. Steve's dedication to youth baseball began while coaching his son years ago, and grew from there. Along with being head coach for the high school baseball program, Steve also serves on the board of Vashon Youth Baseball & Softball, where his role is player development. Steve's passion for baseball is evident, and we are fortunate to have him head the program.

Joe Wald, JV Head Coach
Joe has coached baseball for 16 years, from T-Ball up through the men's Nati
onal Adult Baseball Association (NABA) leagues. Joe's strengths are pitching, infield, and the mental part of the game. "I enjoy the sport because of the physical and mental ability it takes to be a great player. It is the hardest sport there is to play." Aside from his coaching role with the Pirates, Joe has served on the board of Vashon Youth Baseball & Softball (VYBS) for 10 years - including 5 as board president. He also manages all the equipment and scheduling for the youth leagues. As if that wasn't enough, Joe is on his third year as a Vashon Park District Commissioner! Joe's passion for baseball extends to his hobbies as well. He enjoys restoring and repairing baseball gloves, which he does free for kids and with a donation to VYBS for adults. He just finished restoring a 1958 Nokona and a 1962 Gil Hodges glove.
