Baseball Banquet

The Pirates Baseball team held their end of season Awards Ceremony and Banquet at Camp Burton Lodge on June 6th.

Head Coach Steve Hall led the presentation of awards to varsity players, and JV Coach Adam Laskey made the presentations to the Junior Varsity. Assistant coaches Mark Leonard and Jim Martin were also on hand to add their highlights of the Pirates season.

Martin spoke warmly about “this young guy who came along…” referring to his first meeting with Coach Hall several years ago, and presented Hall with a plaque from the players and a signed ball, accompanied by tumultuous applause. The other three coaches received awards of appreciation as well.

It was an evening of good food and good company, and the reliving of bittersweet memories – playoff games won and lost, and goodbyes to seniors Eric Anderson, Max Bean, Lester Gannaw, and Ben Hanusa. Gerran Webb provided one of several highlights during the player awards with his thoughtful presentation of the Greg Smith Award to recipient Lester Gannaw. Those in attendance received a DVD containing a photo collage of the season in review provided by Pirates webmasters Rita and Larry Allman.
