Pirates baseball has a new piece of equipment this year to use during practices: a beautiful roll-away backstop! Coach Hall estimates the new backstop will save dozens of baseballs each season from being lost in the trees. It will also make for more efficient use of practices by eliminating the need to have one of the players stand guard near the trees in an attempt to snag foul balls before losing them to the woods forever. The Pirates have Assistant Coach, Jim (Old Man) Martin to thank for the purchase of this sorely needed piece of equipment and for donating it to the team.
