Pirates Win Season Opener

The Pirates started the 2008 season in fine fashion yesterday by defeating Chief Sealth HS 6-0. The game was played under cool, but dry conditions at the home field of Chief Sealth in West Seattle. Micah Deibell opened the game on the mound for Vashon and pitched four strong innings allowing no hits and striking out five batters. Chris Allman threw the final three innings, also giving up no hits and striking out six opponents. Allman led the Pirate hitting attack with an RBI triple in the first inning and followed with a double later in the game. Geran Webb also contributed two hits-a triple and a single and Chris Pieterick rounded out the hitting with a single as well. Pieterick also had the defensive highlight of the afternoon with a great stop at short and nice throw to nip the runner at first. All in all, a nice way to start things off. Next scheduled game is Friday (3/14) at Bremerton. Game time is 4pm.
