Senior shortstop Matt Amick, Junior pitcher Tyler Bernheisel, and Junior catcher Peter Johnson all were awarded Nisqually League First Team honors on May 13. Senior Wes Paulsen and Sophomore Julian Smith were named to the second team, and Senior Joe Gilmour received an honorable mention.
Head Coach Steve Hall reflected on the season —
"After being knocked out of the playoffs by Seattle Christian to end the Pirates season at a 12-9 overall record and a 6-6 league finish, I am very proud of this Pirate team. We have placed higher in the past, but I can't say I have ever had a team that has had as much fun being around each other and worked and fought as hard from start to finish of the season as this team.
We started the season very strong and then ran into a very competitive league schedule with all three teams ahead of us making it to the State Tournament. I will miss this group of graduating seniors, as all five of them have been great leaders and just flat out good people. The Pirates have a strong group of young talent for the future, and will be back fighting to get to the playoffs for several years to come.
The coaching staff would like to thank all the parents for their support and a special thanks to Doris Paulsen, Jeff Johnson, and Rita Allman for making this year the successful year it has been."
