Pirates Eliminated from Playoffs

On a sunny Friday afternoon on May 12 , the Pirates took on a very strong Bellevue Christian team in a loser out game at Marymoor Park.  With senior pitcher Tyler Bernheisel taking the mound, Vashon was set to compete, but the Bellevue hitters were just too strong, collecting eighteen hits (including five doubles) in route to a 13 to 2 Bellevue Christian victory.  Leading the Pirate hitting attack were Peter Johnson who doubled and scored a run and Ben Reoux who had a single and a RBI.  Joe Wald had two singles and scored a run and Matt Dick had a RBI.  Line score:  Bellevue Christian 13 Runs, 18 Hits, 0 Errors  Vashon 2 Runs, 4 Hits, 2 Errors.  The loss ends the 2011 season for the Pirates.  Final season record: 7-10.  Coach Hall reflected on the season:  "We did a great job of working hard to achieve the playoff berth but in the last few games we just couldnt match up with the talent we were playing.  I am very proud of how the boys fought hard every game and had a winning attitude all the way to the finish and we hate to see such a good group of senior leaders go in Peter, Tyler, Matt and Gus, but we are exited about the possibilities for the young group of guys that will be on the field next year. Thanks to all the parents, the school staff and especially Larry and Rita Allman, Jeff Johnson, and Greg McElroy.  And thanks to Kelly Wald for all the treats every game, and my right arm man  Joe Wald for all the support that goes into making a successful Pirate season."  Next up will be the banquet and awards ceremony.  Watch your email for details.
