On a beautiful Spring-like day with the bleachers full of cheering fans, the Pirates of Vashon opened league play yesterday with an impressive 11-0 win over the visitors from Seattle Christian. Justin Calhoun pitched all five innings of the game allowing only 3 hits and striking out eleven. On the offensive front, Max Bean had 2 hits and an RBI while Tom Schumaker added an RBI double and Chris Pieterick had a double as well. Chris Allman contributed a two run single and Lester Gannaw come through with an RBI single. Rounding out the hitting attack with singles were Eric Anderson and Justin Calhoun. On the base paths, Allman and Bean each had two stolen bases for the Pirates. Vashon had 11 runs, 8 hits, and 0 errors, while Seattle Christian had 0 runs, 3 hits, and 1 error.
