Pirates Defeat Cascade Christian

The Pirate Varsity traveled to Puyallup on Friday (4/13) and left with a 3-2 win over the Cougars of Cascade Christian. In spite of an off and on light rain, the teams were able to play a complete game. Lefty Micah Deibell pitched the first six innings for Vashon allowing only four hits while striking out ten Cougars. Justin Calhoun preserved the victory by pitching a scoreless seventh inning. The Pirates scored all of their three runs in the first inning, benefiting from three walks and a Cougar error. Vashon had only one hit in that inning and would only have three hits the entire game. Max Bean had a double and Justin Calhoun and Tom Schumaker added singles.
The Pirates had 3 runs, 3 hits, and 2 errors, while Cascade Christian had 2 runs, 4 hits, and 2 errors. Deibell was the winning pitcher and David Lidyard took the loss for the Cougars. Vashon is now 3-2 in league and 5-6 overall.
