Pirates Fall To Foster

The Pirate Varsity visited the Foster Bulldogs yesterday (4/6) and came up on the short end of a 6-5 score. The game was played on a warm and beautiful summer-like day. A great day for baseball. The pitching assignment went to senior Eric Anderson, who pitched the entire game. Anderson gave up seven hits, walked three, and struck out eleven batters. Early in the game, the Pirates were up 5-0, but Foster slowly chipped away at the lead and finally went ahead when they put up four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Vashon failed to score a run after the third inning. The Pirates big hit of the day came from Micah Deibell who stroked a two run homerun in the second. Tom Schumaker was 3 for 4 with a double and Chris Allman and Chris Pieterick each had two hits on the day. Max Bean, Justin Calhoun, and Lester Gannaw all contributed singles. Vashon now takes a welcome "spring" break from competition to rest, reflect, practice, and get ready for the critical second half of the season which begins on 4/13 with a game against Cascade Christian in Puyallup. All of the remaining nine games are league games except for Sequim. The Pirates finished the first half of the season with an overall record of 4-6 and a league record of 2-2.
