Pirates Win League Finale

The Pirates completed league play on May 7 at Life Christian with a narrow 1-0 victory.  Freshman Josh Myer started on the hill for the Pirates and pitched a complete game shutout.  He allowed only three hits and two walks and recorded seven strikeouts.  Although Myer pitched a beauty of a game, the opposing pitcher threw a good game as well.  Thus the contest entered the sixth inning knotted at zero when the Pirates were finally able to break through.  Ezra Lacina singled and Erik Powelson doubled him home to score the only run of the game and the only run Myer would need.  The remainder of the Pirate offense was four singles contributed by Ben Reoux, Joe Wald, Kelly Sullivan, and Rowan Stewart.  Vashon finishes the season with a league record of 4-8.
Line score:  Vashon 1 run, 6 hits, 3 errors   Life Christian 0 runs, 3 hits, 2 errors.
