Pirates Lose to Cowboys

Vashon played host to the league leading and undefeated Chimacum Cowboys on April 23rd at Jim Martin Field.  The Pirates suffered their eighth loss of the season 6-1.  The game was close through the first five innings with Chimacum holding a modest 3-0 lead.  But the Cowboys took charge of the game by putting up a three spot in the top of the sixth.  Josh Myer started on the mound for Vashon and pitched five innings, allowing two earned runs on eight hits.  He struck out five and gave up four base on balls.  Michael Bernheisel pitched the final two frames and allowed three earned runs on four hits.  He had one strikeout and no walks.  The Pirate hitting was led by Ezra Lacina who was 2 for 3 on the day with two singles.  Zack Drape, Ben Reoux, Erik Powelson, Colton Alberthal, and Michael Bernheisel all contributed singles as well.  Defensively, Vashon committed just one error.  The line score:  Chimacum 6 runs, 12 hits, 2 errors   Vashon 1 run, 7 hits, 1 error.
