Port Townsend Sinks Pirates, 12-2

The Pirates of Vashon played a non-league game on Friday (April 6th) on the road against Port Townsend.   Kelly Sullivan was the starting Pirate pitcher and threw three innings.  He was followed by Ben Reoux and Michael Bernheisel.  The trio gave up twelve runs on twelve hits over five innings.  The game ended in the bottom of the fifth due to the ten run rule.  The Pirate offense was led by Michael Bernheisel who was two for two on the day.  Geoffrey Kraabel chipped in with a double and  Thomas Douglas added a single.  Coach Hall's comments on the game:  "Without a JV team this year non-league games are our only chance to give guys playing time that don't see much during league games. So 12 to 2 doesn't look good. But we saw some real good things out there. Ryan Bernheisel did a good job behind the plate. Kelly Sullivan looked good pitching and Thomas Douglas hit the ball hard twice with a hit and another one taken away by a nice defensive play. On the negative side Jacob Plithal injured his knee and will be day to day after looking good early in the day."  The loss dropped the teams record to 0-5 for the season.  Vashon takes the next week off for Spring Break and hits the field again on April 17th at home against Cascade Christian.  Your line score:  Port Townsend  12 runs, 12 hits, 1 error   Vashon 2 runs, 4 hits, 3 errors.
